These 2010 calanders feature children from the San Antonio area, who have type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system destroys the beta cells in the pancrease which produce insulin. Insulin is used by the body to burn glucose. There is no cure for this disorder, this is no prevention for this disorder. Over 15,000 children a year are diagnosed. They are sentenced to a life of finger pricks, insulin injectsion, or best case being wired to a small machine which pumps insulin into their system.
Their only hope is that a cure is found. For more than three decades the JDRF has had the mission to raise and donatte money to effective medical research to cure this disorder. There have been many advances in that time, but more is needed.
For every calendar purchased approximately $10 will go directly to the San Antonio JDRF to help with research and patient support in the area.
If you live in the area you may purchase calendars below with the Pick Up option. They're available at our store front location. If you know any of the kids or parents in the calendar, you can check with them, they may still have some available. If you live outside San Antonio or don't have a way to get to the store to pick them up please select the shipped option, and for an additional $4.00 to cover postage and packing, we will ship them out to you as quickly as possible.
If you find it within your heart, please be generous and support this project. We hope to do it again next year and the year after with new kids and their stories for you.
Thank you for the opportunity to share these wonderful children with you.
